Driver Motorsport presents our MK7 GTI ECU Upgrade!
Volkswagen’s introduction of the modular MQB Chassis and the Gen 3 EA888 engine brings a new era of technological advances. Large improvements to engine hardware and the Continental SIMOS 18 ECU allowed us to take things further than we’ve ever gone. We produced peak power gains of 82 Horsepower and 105 Ft-Lb of Torque measured at the wheels with just an ECU Upgrade . Driver Motorsport‘s Mk7 GTI ECU Upgrade will place your vehicle’s performance in the next realm of performance vehicles.
Utilizing the engine’s untapped potential, Driver Motorsport delivered massive torque increases that turn into smooth top end power giving the driver more confidence behind the wheel. Driver Motorsport improved fuel economy by increasing the efficiency of the engine during light acceleration and cruising conditions.
Driver Motorsport‘s ECU Software Upgrade is developed to operate within the safety margin of all engine components. Driver Motorsport is offering performance without fear of adverse conditions from poor engine calibration. Through extensive long-term testing on our in-house Mk7 GTI we’re able to offer massive performance gains without any trade offs.
The EA888 Gen 3 powering the MK7 GTI hosts a bunch of new advancements. Through proper research methods and access to proprietary materials Driver Motorsport was able to to take full advantage of what this engine had to offer. We took the time to study in depth the new hardware and the added benefit through re-calibration.
To ensure our customers can drive their vehicles however they want, wherever they want we paid close attention to the new thermo-management system. The new thermo-management system is controlled by select maps inside of the ECU and introduces a rotary slide coolant pump ran by an electronic motor. Due to the design of the engine and turbocharger system re-calibration of this system allowed us to achieve lower exhaust gas temperature (EGT), reduced intake air temperature (IAT) and reduced cylinder head temperatures under load. Through this, we achieved more power without compromising engine life.
The turbocharger on the EA888 Gen 3 is now attached directly to the cylinder head and uses an electronically controlled wastegate. With the ability to properly calibrate the SIMOS 18 boost control, this allowed faster response, faster spool and more precise control. Despite this new turbocharger being larger than the previous generation peak torque is earlier. This is achieved by the re-calibration of both intake and exhaust variable valve timing coupled with variable valve lift on the exhaust side.
With proper understanding of the Continental SIMOS 18 ECU more control over the engine’s functions is available than ever before. Driver Motorsport‘s release of new hardware later this year will illustrate this fact.
